IPL 2025: IPL 2025 is all set to kick off on March 22 with the first match scheduled to be played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Ahead of the tournament opener at the iconic Eden Gardens, Google came up with a special doodle to celebrate the 18th edition of the cash-rich league.

The current Google Doodle sees two ducks playing cricket.

KKR will be heading into the tournament as the defending champions, having won the title last year with a famous win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. RCB, on the other hand, will be looking to end their long and frustrating wait for their maiden IPL title. They will be captained by Rajat Patidar in the IPL 2025.

Veteran India batter Ajinkya Rahane will be leading KKR this season as he becomes the oldest captain in IPL 2025 at the age of 36.

Seventeen years ago, the IPL got off to a fiery start with Brendon McCullum playing a memorable knock of 158 runs while playing for KKR against RCB. That match along with McCullum's performance set the tone for the tournament's legacy.

Over the last 17 years, IPL has become the most popular T20 league across the world. Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two most successful teams in the tournament history, having won five IPL titles each.

The first match of this year's tournament is expected to witness a jaw-dropping battle considering an interesting rivalry between both the teams with ace batter Virat Kohli also set for action. All eyes will be on the former RCB skipper which means the Eden Gardens is expected to be packed despite the rain threat at the famous venue.

Before the opening game of IPL 2025, KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, singers Shreya Ghoshal and Karan Aujla, besides actress Disha Patani, will be present for a grand opening ceremony.

The second match of the tournament is as big as the first with CSK and MI set to face off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23.
