IPL 2024 Mega Auction: Ex-LSG captain KL Rahul has been bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore in Jeddah on Sunday. The star wicket-keeper batter has performed consistently in the tournament but went through a lean patch in IPL 2024.

It should be noted here that KL Rahul has played for multiple teams like SRH, RCB, PBKS, and LSG. He might have performed consistently at the international level, but he shone brightly in the IPL 2018 season.

He scored a half-century off 18 balls and since then never looked back.

Bidding war for KL Rahul

Once KL Rahul's name came up the bidding war soon began between KKR and RCB. Both the teams are looking for a captain and that's why they began the war for him.

The bidding wars never stopped as both teams were relentless. It reached at 6.50 but RCB was then in a bit of doubt, but nevertheless went ahead. The bidding went for Rs 10 crore as both the teams went all in for Rahul. DC and CSK too entered the bidding war after RCB backed out at Rs 12.25 crore. But DC stayed calm and bought him for Rs 14 crore.

KL Rahul's IPL career

He made his IPL debut way back in 2013 and changed his team from SRH to RCB as he was seen struggling. He had a dream run in IPL 2016 and helped RCB qualify for the summit clash.

He scored 397 runs after playing in 14 IPL matches in that season and then he joined Punjab in IPL 2018. He was their sole star performer and although the team failed to qualify for the playoffs, he was their highest run-getter in the four seasons.

In 2022, he then was roped in by LSG. He led the team from the front as he helped them qualify for the playoffs twice but had a woeful time in 2024 and he was thus released.
