MI vs CSK IPL 2025: Chennai Super Kings' stand-in skipper MS Dhoni and the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad landed in Mumbai along with their families for their IPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians. Viral Bhayani took to his official Instagram account and posted a video, where Dhoni and Gaikwad along with the whole team, can be seen smiling while entering their team hotel, where they received a warm welcome.
Gaikwad traveling with the team is quite fascinating since he has already pulled out from the ongoing season owing to an injury. Rajasthan Royals' Tushar Deshpande had hit him and despite that, he still played for the next two matches, and then the Chennai-based franchise's team management decided that he shouldn't play anymore. Dhoni then has been leading the team from the front since the last two matches, where they have lost one and won one match.

“He [Gaikwad] got hit in Guwahati. He’s been operating with an amount of pain. We got an X-ray, which was inconclusive, and we had an MRI, which revealed a fracture in his elbow, in the radial neck. So we’re disappointed and feel for him. We appreciate the efforts that he’s gone to in terms of trying to play, but unfortunately, he’d be out of the tournament from now. We have an uncapped player, MS Dhoni, who will take over as captain for the remainder of the IPL" Stephen Fleming told reporters during the pre-match press conference.

The MS Dhoni-led side is lying in the tenth position in the points table and will aim to defeat MI in their backyard. It would be interesting to see how the surface turns out for the upcoming clash since CSK spinners might give the hosts a hard time as MI would be playing without Karn Sharma owing to an injury.
“Not sure what it’s going to play like (against Chennai) but we speak as a unit, adapting as fast as we can. Traditionally, it is a very good wicket so if it is like that, it’s (about) getting in and out of overs. If it is like that, we know how to bowl and then if it is flat, like the Bangalore (RCB) game, we know that (too) — try and get in and out of overs. The only way to slow teams down is wickets as we’ve seen this IPL," Mitchell Santner told reporters during the pre-match press conference.
