IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders face a major setback ahead of IPL 2026, as star pacer Harshit Rana is likely to miss the tournament due to a right knee ligament strain sustained during India's T20 World Cup warm-up against South Africa. This injury is a major blow to KKR's fast-bowling lineup. After undergoing surgery, Rana is now in rehab, but with no timeline for his return, the team's management is exploring alternatives.
During a press conference in Kolkata on Friday, head coach Abhishek Nayar stated that they are exploring alternatives and will soon decide on his replacement.
“Firstly, it’s a big blow because Harshit has been an integral part of the team for the last few seasons. Over the years, he has grown into a good cricketer. We’ll always miss him, and it’s not easy to replace Harshit Rana," Nayar said.

“Having looked at a few bowlers recently, we are evaluating with our leadership group who best fits the role. The decision is yet to be made, but hopefully, we can identify someone who can make a difference," he said.
Nayar added that Harshit is currently at BCCI's Centre of Excellence, and his replacement will be announced soon.
“The decision will be made soon, maybe in a couple of days," he concluded.
