KL Rahul produced a brilliant innings on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, smashing his fastest-ever IPL century against Punjab Kings during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match 35
The Delhi Capitals opener reached his hundred in just 47 balls. This was eight balls quicker than his previous fastest IPL century, which came for Lucknow Super Giants against Mumbai Indians in 2022.
KL Rahul breaks a plethora of records
With this knock, the 34-year-old now has six IPL centuries to his name. That puts him joint third on the all-time list alongside Chris Gayle. Only Jos Buttler (7) and Virat Kohli (8) are ahead of him in terms of IPL hundreds.
KL Rahul becomes first Indian batter to score 150 runs in an IPL match
KL Rahul also climbed further up the record books with a massive 152-run innings. In the process, he went past Abhishek Sharma’s 141-run knock for SRH in IPL 2025 to move up the list of highest individual scores.
Only Chris Gayle, with an unbeaten 175, and Brendon McCullum, with 158, are ahead of him now in the all-time chart.
With this knock, the Karnataka batter also created history by becoming the first Indian player ever to score 150 runs in an IPL innings.
KL Rahul surpassed Suresh Raina
Apart from that, KL Rahul also surpassed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend Suresh Raina in the tally of most runs in IPL. Raina who retired from the tournament on 6 September 2022 after going unsold has scored 5528 runs in 205 outings. KL Rahul has now 5579 runs. Overall he promoted to fifth in the tally after Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner.

It was also Rahul’s second century for Delhi Capitals (DC). Last season, he had scored an unbeaten 112 off 65 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Against Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rahul was in full control from the start.He smashed 12 fours and 5 maximums in his 47-ball ton, helping DC build a strong total. Nitish Rana also played a good supporting role, staying close to a century himself with a solid 72.
Rahul’s big innings also pushed him to the top of the Orange Cap race, putting him ahead of Virat Kohli in the run-scoring chart in the ongoing 19th edition of the cash-rich league.
