IPL 2026: The Kolkata Knight Riders have revealed that they have roped in Zimbabwe's star fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for IPL 2026. The tournament will start later this month. To play for the three-time IPL champions, Muzarabani had to pull out of PSL 2026. He was supposed to represent Islamabad United. His addition has bolstered KKR's fast bowling attack. KKR had to let go of Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman owing to geopolitical tensions between India and Bangladesh. Muzarabani had performed consistently during the recently concluded mega event. He took 13 wickets after Zimbabwe was knocked out during the Super 8s stage.
"KKR have signed Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani to join the squad for the upcoming TATA Indian Premier League 2026 season. The 6 ft 8" right-arm quick has emerged as one of Zimbabwe's leading pace bowlers in the shortest format. He is known for his steep bounce and ability to strike in key phases of the innings," a statement released by KKR said.
"Muzarabani brings significant T20 experience. He has claimed over 90 wickets in more than 80 T20 Internationals at an average of around 21, with best figures of 3/8. His pace and consistency across global leagues and international cricket add further depth to KKR's pace attack heading into the season," it added.
Muzarabani will arrive in Kolkata next week, shortly before the start of IPL 2026. He is now the second player to opt out of an active PSL contract during this year's tournament to play in the IPL.
South Africa's star all-rounder Corbin Bosch had done the same thing last year. That resulted in a huge controversy. He was roped in by the Mumbai Indians as fast bowler Lizaad Williams' replacement.
Peshawar Zalmi selected him in the diamond category in the PSL 10 draft.

The PCB released a statement revealing that it had banned Bosch. He won't be eligible for selection in the next edition. The board highlighted the importance of a player's commitment and professionalism, especially for those who have signed contracts with PSL teams.
