IPL 2026 News: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are bracing for a potential blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, with fast bowler Harshit Rana's appearance on crutches at the BCCI Naman Awards in Mumbai, casting a doubt on his availability for the cash-rich league.

Rana's struggles were evident at the BCCI Naman Awards, where he was forced to refrain from walking on stage to collect his Best International Debut (Men’s) award. Notably, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal stepped in, presenting the honour to Rana on his behalf.

Rana's arrival at the awards ceremony on crutches swiftly went viral on social media, raising speculation about the severity of his injury.

The pacer, who has been recovering from a successful surgery on February 9, is presently in the rehabilitation phase, with his current course suggesting an extended absence from the field, rendering him unavailable for the IPL season, which commences on March 28.

Rana's troubles started during a T20 World Cup warm-up match against South Africa, where he sustained a knee injury that was severe enough to force him out of India's World Cup squad.

KKR's speed attack, already a concern, takes another hit with Rana's unavailability, leaving Vaibhav Arora, Umran Malik, Kartik Tyagi, and Akash Deep to shoulder the burden.
