IPL 2026 Retention: All-Rounder Ravindra Jadeja has finally reacted after being traded from CSK to RR before the next season. The Governing council of the IPL has revealed that this deal happened on Saturday, where Jadeja will be playing for RR for a whopping amount of Rs 14 cr, whereas Sanju Samson will be playing for the five-time IPL winners.
RR has also roped in Sam Curran for Rs 2.40 cr. This is an emotional trade for Jadeja, who is returning to the same team where he started my IPL career. "Rajasthan Royals gave me my first platform and my first taste of victory. Coming back feels special; it's not just a team for me, it's home. Rajasthan Royals is where I won my first IPL, and I hope to win more with this current group of players," Jadeja was quoted as saying in a statement released by RR.
Jadeja has played for RR in the first two seasons of RR, where Shane Warne called him a rockstar during this time frame. His fame in this tournament was stopped for a while as the team was banned in 2010, as they were guilty of making a trade deal independently with another team.

After 2012, he has been playing for CSK, except for IPL 2016-17, when the team was banned again. He did play an important role in helping the team win the trophy in 2023, where he scored 10 runs in the last over against GT.
After playing in 254 IPL matches, Jadeja boasts of vast experience for RR. Kumar Sangakkara, who is the Director of cricket that with his arrival, the team has only been strengthened.

"Jadeja coming back to the Royals is incredibly special for all of us. He understands the franchise and the fans, having been part of RR's IPL-winning campaign," he said.
As far as the other trade dealings are concerned, RR had also let go of Nitish Rana, who will be playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026.

"Sanju was with us at trials when he was just 17 years old, went on to become one of our youngest captains of RR and since then, he has been an integral part of the Royals family for more than a decade, continuing to inspire everyone around him," Manoj Badale, who is the owner of Rajasthan Royals, was quoted as saying.
"His chapter with us has been one of belief, brilliance, and heart. Sanju has been an exceptional ambassador of our values, and we thank him for everything he has done for the Royals family," he added.
