IPL Retentions: After a season which was no less than a nightmare for their fans, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will look to rebuild their side with a plan to go for fresh players in the auction. The old guard of CSK are likely to take fall with young players like Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel and Dewald Brevis coming in to the side.
There are reports in R Ashwin, who was bought for Rs 9.75 cr as part of homecoming, will part ways with the franchise. Along with Ashwin, players like Devon Conway (Rs 6.25 cr), Rachin Ravindra (Rs 4 cr), Rahul Tripathi (Rs 3.4 cr), Sam Curran (Rs 2.4 cr), Gurjapneet Singh (2.2 cr), Nathan Ellis (2 cr), Deepak Hooda (1.75 cr), Jamie Overton (1.5 cr) and Vijay Shankar (1.2 cr) have got their place in doubt which could open the purse for CSK. Will Sanju Samson Leave RR For CSK?
There are discussions over acquiring Sanju Samson for the upcoming edition, who is likely to part ways with Rajasthan Royals soon. However, a trade-off is unlikely as Rajasthan Royals might agree for cash-only deal. CSK may also target a fast bowling all-rounder to strengthen their arsenal. Cameron Green, Mitchell Owen and Ben Stokes are viable options likely to be available for the auction.
MS Dhoni On CSK's Performance In Last Two Seasons
In the 18th edition of the cash-rich league, the Chennai-based franchise finishes at the 10th spot after winning just four games out of their 14 games in the competition.

Last year, as well, the CSK franchise was unable to qualify for the playoffs as they finished fifth after winning seven out of their 14 games in the tournament.
