Ireland women's cricket team celebrated a historic milestone on Sunday at Castle Avenue, Dublin, as they secured their first-ever T20I victory over England women. Orla Prendergast shone with a brilliant 80 off 51 balls, guiding the hosts to a thrilling five-wicket win, achieving the target of 170 on the second-last ball.

Ireland's thrilling win ensured a 1-1 series draw, after a 67-run loss in the first match. The team's jubilation was noticeable as players celebrated with uncontrolled euphoria in the dressing room, while others shared tender moments with family members near the boundary, basking in the collective delight of the stadium.

Talking about the match, after being put to bat first, England got off to a fine start and posted a challenging total of 169/8 in 20 overs. Openers Bryony Smith and Tammy Beaumont hammered Ireland bowler all around the ground, adding 44 runs stand for the opening wicket. However, it was Arlene Kelly, who broke the stand, sending both openers packing.

Beaumont went back to the pavilion after scoring 40 off 34 while Paige Scholfield (34 off 21) played a fantastic knock as the duo added 59 runs for the third wicket off 32 balls. Georgia Adams with her knock of 23 runs off 15 balls also made a significant contribution to the team's total to take England to 169.

For Ireland, Orla Prendergast bagged 2/31 while Arlene Kelly (2/22) and Aimee Maguire returned with a figure of 2/32, taking two wickets each for Ireland.

Chasing a target of 170, Ireland early lost Amy Hunter (1 off 3) in the first over. After a big blow, the skipper Gaby Lewis' knock of 38 runs off 35 balls steadied the innings with Prendergast amassing 79 runs for the second wicket off 63 balls.

Prendergast kept the charge going with her powerful shot play and took her team to the cusp of a historic win. Leah Paul with her knock of 27 off 27 and Coulter Reilly (2* off 1) guided their team home in the last over and scripted a famous win.
