New Zealand National Cricket Team vs West Indies Cricket Team Stats: The leader of New Zealand's pace attack, Jacob Duffy, broke an elusive record after his match-winning fifer during the recently concluded third Test against the West Indies on Monday. Duffy, who is an all-format player for the Blackcaps, broke fast-bowling legend Richard Hadlee's record of most wickets in a calendar year.
Notably, Hadlee held the record for 40s, as he ended his tally at 80 in 23 matches in a year. On the other hand, Duffy has picked up 81 wickets in 36 matches with a spectacular average of 17.11 this year.
Courtesy of Duffy's bowling performance on the final day of the Bay Oval Test, New Zealand defeated the visitors by a massive 323 runs, winning the series 2-0. Duffy's performance also helped him win the 'Player of the Series' award.

"I saw that list (most wickets in a calendar year) at lunch time, and there were some cool names on there, so to be up there on any sort of list with those sort of names was special," Duffy said.
With this win, New Zealand have moved to second place on the ICC World Test Championship standings.
New Zealand jumped to second place, behind Australia, in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings following their victory.
"It was a clinical performance, really," New Zealand captain Tom Latham said at the presentation ceremony.
"Take away maybe 20-odd overs with the ball in that first innings and I thought throughout the rest of the game, we were exactly where we wanted to be.
"And obviously being on the right side is really pleasing."
West Indies showed some resistance in the first innings when Kavem Hodge's hundred powered them to a respectable 420.
"It has been a tough series. We played good in patches but not through long phases and it showed in the results," touring captain Roston Chase said.

"I think we need to firstly know when those moments are up for grabs, and then obviously, to nail those moments, to win those key moments in the game. I just think that's something that we have to learn to do."
