The fans present at the venue were seen standing on their feet so as to show their respect to the Indian Army for keeping the whole country safe at such uncertain times, and the national anthem was also played at the venue.

The ongoing season was supposed to restart in Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy stadium during the clash between RCB and KKR, but the rain played a spoilsport and the match was called off without the toss being held. Due to this, both the teams shared one point each, and that helped the hosts inch closer towards the playoffs and become the table toppers after scoring 17 points, whereas defending champions KKR were eliminated from the race to the playoffs.

Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first against the Sanju Samson-led side, and it was RR who took advantage of this decision as Tushar Deshpande dismissed Priyansh Arya early, who had scored just nine runs off 7 balls. Mitchell Owen was the new batter as Kwena Mphaka dismissed him for a duck. Prabsimran Singh helped the visitors bounce back by scoring a gritty knock of 21 runs, but then Tushar Deshpande took his second wicket, and then skipper Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera helped the team bounce back.

Riyan Parag then dismissed Shreyas Iyer, who had scored 30 runs off 25 balls and had built a partnership of 64 runs with Wadhera. Shashank Singh was the new batter and helped Wadhera score his fifty, and thus kept the scoreboard ticking.
