Former Pakistan player and renowned batter of the past, Javed Miandad has opened up a can of warms by revealing his familial ties with notorious underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim who happens to be India's most wanted terrorist.

Miandad, known for his hateful statements against India and its citizens, faced criticism for his remarks defending his connection to Dawood Ibrahim, who is wanted for his involvement in numerous criminal activities.

In an interview with Pakistani journalist Hassan Nisar, Miandad expressed pride in his relationship with Dawood Ibrahim, stating that it was an honor to be related to him. The connection between the two families dates back to 2005 when Dawood's daughter married Miandad's son in Dubai.

On the top of that, Miandad also claimed that his ties with Ibrahim existed even before their children's got married and defended Dawood's family, claiming that they are misunderstood by the public.

“I have known him for a long time, from Dubai. It is an honour for me that his daughter married my son. My daughter-in-law is very well-educated; she studied in a convent school and went to a renowned university,” Miandad told Hassan Nisar during the interview.

“Understanding the real Dawood Ibrahim is not easy. The way people think about the family, they are not like that,” he added.

However, while Miandad may view Dawood Ibrahim as his in-law, Ibrahim is a convicted criminal responsible for orchestrating the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings, which claimed the lives of 250 people and injured hundreds more. He also operated an organized crime syndicate known as 'D-Company' during the 1980s.

After being convicted in multiple murder and terrorism cases, Dawood Ibrahim fled to Pakistan, where he is rumored to be residing in Karachi under the protection of Pakistani military services.
