ICC World Test Championship 2025 Final: Lord’s Cricket Ground, widely known as the 'Mecca of Cricket', will host the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final from June 11 next year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Tuesday.
The ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 will be played from June 11 to 15, with 16 June available as a reserve day if required, as the top two sides in the standings will lock horns in the Ultimate Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Ultimate Test is the culmination of two years of intense battle between the teams to finish at the top two spots, spanning 69 Tests over 27 series played to decide the finalists.
It will be the first time that Lord's Ground will host the World Test Championship final after Southhampton held the first edition in 2021 while The Oval played the host for the second edition (2023).
Rohit Sharma's India currently holds the top spot in the standing with a healthy lead while reigning champions Australia is close behind in second place.
The inaugural edition champions New Zealand are in the third place with England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and South Africa bunched together in mid-table.
The Ultimate Test at the Lord's will decide the winner of the third edition as New Zealand lifted the Test Mace in 2021 and Australia won the second edition of the Championship.
“The ICC World Test Championship Final has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in the cricketing calendar and we are pleased to announce the dates for the 2025 edition," Allardice said in an official statement by ICC.
"It's a testament to the enduring appeal of Test cricket, which continues to captivate fans around the world. Tickets will be in high demand so I would encourage fans to register their interest now to ensure they are in with a chance of attending the Ultimate Test next year," he added.
