WPL 2026 Auction: The Women's Premier League is all set to undergo a reset as the focus will now shift to the auction of the next season, which will be held next month. The tournament has revealed a revised retention plan, where each team can retain five players ahead of the auction.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the retention window will shut by November, as it's the last day by which the teams will have to submit their list of retained players. After two days, on 7th November, the complete list of auction-eligible players will be released. The auction is all set to be held between November 25 and 29.
As per the new rules, franchises will be allowed to retain three capped Indian players and two overseas players and 2 uncapped Indian players, where the overall limit is five. The main aim of this is to maintain the competitiveness, which will help the team retain its main players and also make sure that domestic players also get enough opportunities.

It's the first time that an RTM option will be used, and that will help the team to buy back a released player.
In the mega auction, all five teams will undergo a complete shake-up. Those teams that underperformed will try to aggressively rebuild the team, whereas the top team will try to retain its core players.
This year, all the teams had retained 71 players, and had left 19 spots vacant. Since there are five retentions for the next season, a deep change in the teams will be the highlight of the auction.
MI is the reigning champion. They had defeated the Delhi Capitals during the summit clash this year. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had lifted the title last year but couldn't qualify for the Eliminator in 2025.
