MI vs DC, IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals' star pacer Anrich Nortje had an outing to forget against Mumbai Indians in the match 20 of the IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7.

Nortje bowled the most expensive over of IPL 2024 as he conceded 32 runs off the last over with MI's Romario Shepherd smashing him all over the park.

While Shepherd smashed four sixes and two fours off Nortje, the South African bowler ended up with the most expensive spell of this season as well.

He gave away 65 runs in his four overs despite taking two wickets.

Notably, this was also the most expensive spell bowled by a Dehli bowler, equalling the unwanted record of Umesh Yadav in 2023.

Shepherd, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 39 off just 10 balls with the help of three fours and four sixes with Tim David at the other end on 45 off 21.

The duo added 53 runs for the sixth wicket in just 13 balls as MI smashed 96 runs in the final five overs to reach the massive total of 234/5 in their 20 overs.

This was also MI's sixth 200-plus score against Delhi Capitals in the history of the tournament.

As Anrich Nortje bowled the expensive over of this season, checkout the list of expensive overs in the history of the tournament:

37 runs - Chris Gayle off Prasanth Parameswaran (RCB vs KTK, Bengaluru; 2011)

37 runs - Ravindra Jadeja off Harshal Patel (CSK vs RCB, Mumbai; 2021)

35 runs - Pat Cummins off Daniel Sams (KKR vs MI, Pune; 2022)

33 runs - Suresh Raina off Parvinder Awana (CSK vs KXIP, Mumbai; 2014)

33 runs - Manoj Tiwary & Chris Gayle off Ravi Bopara (KKR vs KXIP, Kolkata; 2010)

32 runs- Romario Shepherd off Anrich Nortje (MI vs DC, Mumbai; 2024)

Nortje hasn't been at his best this season since returning from injury break.

Ahead of the match against MI, Nortje had picked six wickets in four matches, leaking runs at an economy of 13.44.

In DC's previous match against KKR, Nortje conceded 59 runs in his four overs.

He has been out of action for South Africa since September 2023 as he was recovering from a stress fracture in his back due to which he missed the ODI World Cup, India's tour to South Africa and also the SA20 league.

Romario Shepherd smashed 32 off the last over for Mumbai Indians to take their total to 234/5 in their 20 overs against Delhi Capitals.

After being put into bat first, MI came up with an entertaining display of batting as on the back of a promising start Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided.

While Rohit scored 49 off 27 with the help of six fours and three sixes, Kishan was dismissed for 42 runs in just 23 balls.

Skipper Hardik Pandya came up with a contribution of 39 in 33 balls but Surykumar Yadav was dismissed for 0 on his comeback.
