IND vs ENG: India skipper Shubman Gill got involved in a heated discussion with England players like Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley at stumps on Day 3 of the third Test match. Gill got frustrated at Zak Crawley for asking for the tea physio as he was hit on the glove while batting against Jasprit Bumrah, as it was considered a way to waste time so that the hosts didn't have to play another over as they were inching closer towards stumps.
Gill was heard as saying, “Grow some f****** ba**s!"
The Men in Blue showed their disappointment by sarcastically clapping at Crawley, and it was the same gesture that England skipper Ben Stokes made after nightwatchman Akash Deep had also called the physio during the fourth day.
Stokes revealed that the Shubman Gill-led side provoked the openers and thus brought a different side, whereas fast bowler Jofra Archer reckoned that they chose not to be nice for once.
Ex-England cricketer Moeen Ali has said that he didn't find any problem with Gill's aggressive approach since he was just being competitive, but warned him that Gill's provoking them might have brought out the beast in the English players.
“It’s fine, I think he was just trying to be competitive and try to fight, very similar to Virat Kohli, I think it’s fine. But what you have done is that you brought out the best of England, the fight, and the beast England can be," Moeen was quoted as saying to the Hindustan Times.
“I think that’s the different side of England that the players showed. It’s great for the series, I don’t know why he gets criticised," he said.
Would Like To See Kuldeep in India XI
The Indian team management hasn't included spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI of the first three Test matches of the ongoing series as they have been dependent on all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Moeen revealed that he wants to see Kuldeep get picked for the remaining two matches, but highlighted that it was difficult for them to drop anyone, who would be replaced by Yadav.
“I would like to see him in the team, but I don’t know who for. Washi has bowled well, and Jadeja has batted well. It makes it difficult to bring Kuldeep Yadav in the side. I would like to see Kuldeep in, but I don’t think they can fit him in," he concluded.
