MS Dhoni provided an iconic picture to the cricket lovers around India as he was captured touching the 2011 World Cup trophy at BCCI headquarters on Saturday, April.

Dhoni, who is engaged in the IPL 2024 with Chennai Super Kings, led the Indian team to the ODI World Cup title way back in 2011.

The former Indian captain himself smashed the World Cup-winning shot, hitting the famous six towards the long on with India winning the title after a long gap of 28 years.

Dhoni remains the last Indian captain to have led the side to the WC title as the nation continues to wait for an ICC title for more than a decade now.

Dhoni, who is in Mumbai for CSK's next match against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, had a look at the trophies at the BCCI headquarters.

BCCI shared a series of pictures with Dhoni holding the 2011 WC trophy again and the post was soon to go viral on social media as netizens emerged in huge numbers to share their emotions in the comment section.

Notably, India defeated Sri Lanka in the final of the 2011 WC to clinch the title at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with Dhoni himself contributing with 91 runs in their run chase.

Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2020, had recently brought an end to his long and loyal stint as CSK captain ahead of the IPL 2024.

He led CSK to five IPL titles out of which one came last season for which they defeated Gujarat Titans in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

He stepped down from CSK's captaincy on the eve of the tournament opener before the franchise announced Ruturaj Gaikwad as their new skipper.

CSK's next match of the IPL 2024 against Mumbai Indians is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 14.

While CSK stand in the third position in the points table with three wins and six points after the first five matches.

On the other hand, MI are playing the new captaincy of Hardik Pandya and are placed seventh with two wins and four points.
