MI vs GT IPL 2025 Eliminator: Mumbai Indians' star batter Rohit Sharma got a standing ovation from their owners Nita and Aakash Ambani for scoring a match-winning knock against Gujarat Titans during Eliminator 1. Rohit, who had a mixed stint in the ongoing season till now, was seen at his absolute best against Gujarat Titans as he scored 81 runs off 50 balls and helped his team win the match in Mullanpur.

The ex-MI skipper proved his naysayers wrong as he played some brilliant shots in his knock. He had smashed nine fours and four sixes and batted at a brilliant strike rate of 162 and thus went all-guns-blazing against the GT bowlers.

Both his fellow teammates and his fans praised the veteran batter and the Ambanis too joined in lauding the batter.

The incident occurred when Rohit got out after scoring his match-winning knock during the 17th over.

He also survived nervy dismissals during the first innings, as he was dropped twice.

He took the GT bowlers to the cleaners by playing some brilliant shots as he also stitched a match-winning partnership with Jonny Bairstow, who had scored a gritty knock of 47 runs, and Suryakumar Yadav, who came into bat at the No.3 position.

After Rohit was dismissed, Tilak Varma and captain Hardik Pandya too made significant contributions with the bat and helped the team post a mammoth target of 228/5.

While chasing, the Shubman Gill-led side could only score 208/6, even though Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar scored gritty knocks and were thus knocked out from the tournament as MI qualified for the second qualifier which would be held on Sunday, where they will lock horns with Punjab Kings.

While scoring his match-winning knock, Rohit also achieved the milestone of being the second player to score 7000 runs in the history of the tournament besides RCB batter Virat Kohli.

Rohit was adjudged the Man of the Match award for his brilliant innings during a must-win clash and also talked about the mixed campaign he had and admitted that he wants to perform more consistently.

“I have got only four fifties. Would have loved to score more fifties. Good day for us as a team. I understand the importance of playing this Eliminator and going through it, taking the next step forward. Proud of a complete team effort. When I play the game, I try to do my best to keep everything aside. Ensuring I can effectively contribute to the team’s work. I had to make the most of the luck. I am glad I could do that. Get the team into a good position," he concluded.
