MI vs GT IPL 2025 Eliminator: MI skipper Hardik Pandya was seen singing hilariously during a post-match interaction with Jonny Bairstow, who made his debut for the Mumbai-based franchise on Friday. The star opener scored a match-winning knock against GT and played a huge role in helping MI win the IPL 2025 Eliminator and that's why Pandya was praising him by singing and stunning Bairstow with the famous song from the Bollywood movie Baby John.
“What a debut! Jonny! Jonny!! Jonny Baby! Teri meri hai kahaani (it’s a story of you and me)… A new chapter," Pandya was heard saying during a post-match video shared by MI on their official social media account and that surprised Bairstow.
Bairstow too was seen enjoying the praises and reckoned that he didn't really understand what Hardik had said but still enjoyed it. “Not sure about it, but we’ll go with it," Bairstow was heard saying in the video and then Pandya said, “It’s a Hindi song."

This hilarious conversation showed Pandya's admiration for Bairstow's brilliant knock during his debut match for MI, where he scored a match-winning knock of 47 runs. He came in as a replacement for Ryan Rickleton during the playoffs and Bairstow showed his match-winning abilities during the powerplay.

The explosive opener had smashed four fours and three sixes in his innings and shared a match-winning partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma.
This partnership helped MI post a mammoth target of 228/6. Although Rohit Sharma was lauded for his match-winning knock of 81 runs, it was Bairstow who played the role of a second fiddle and helped the team inch closer to lifting their sixth IPL trophy.
After the match, he also talked about what was going through his mind while playing in the must-win clash.
“Yeah, it’s been amazing. To get the phone call out to join the Mumbai Indians was one thing and then obviously for them to qualify to play tonight, go to Ahmedabad and the momentum that we have got is fantastic. “There’s always nerves, no matter who you are. When you play in any game. I think that’s the beauty of it. Those nerves, if channeled in the right way, can bring the best out of you," Bairstow told broadcasters during the post-match presentation.
