PBKS vs MI IPL 2025 Qualifier 2: Punjab Kings is all set to lock horns with Mumbai Indians for the second qualifier, which will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium on Sunday. The Punjab-based franchise is aiming to qualify for the summit clash for the first time after 2014 whereas Mumbai Indians is aiming to lift their sixth title.
The IPL 2025 playoffs began with the first qualifier being held between PBKS and RCB and the 1st Eliminator was held between GT and MI in Mohali. The next two matches like the 2nd Qualifier and the summit clash would be held in Ahmedabad.
Initially, the summit clash was supposed to be held at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata, which was the home ground of the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. However since the ongoing season was suspended for a week owing to political tensions between India and Pakistan, the schedule was revised and the playoff venues also shifted.

As per Accuweather.com, there is a 24 percent chance of rain playing a spoilsport during the 2nd Qualifier. And if the match is washed out owing to incessant rain, whichever team has more points will then qualify for the summit clash. In such a situation, Punjab Kings would reach the finals as they ended the group stage as the table toppers by scoring 19 points and a better NRR as compared to their arch-rivals RCB.
Extra-Time Provisions in Place for Rain Delay
If the rain does play spoilsport, then both the BCCI and IPL Governing Council have kept aside one extra hour of playing and giving extra time to both the teams to participate in the match.
“Similar to the playoffs stage, an additional one hour will be allocated to the playing conditions for the remaining matches of the league stage, starting Tuesday, 20 May," a statement released by the BCCI said.
The latest playing conditions also have an extra time of two hours for restarting the match.
Clause 13.7.3 talks about the tournament's playing conditions and also about extra time and says, “Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended for any reason then extra time of… up to one hundred and twenty minutes for any of the play-off matches (shall be available)."
“For the avoidance of doubt, if extra time is required to be used, it will be taken in the following sequence. In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of… one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for time-outs and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable)" it added.
“For clarity, the changeover period (maximum 10 mins) for a Super Over after the main match is not to be taken into account when applying any permitted extra time available" the statement concluded.
It should be noted here that there is no official statement yet made about having a reserve day for Qualifier 2. At the moment, just the summit clash has the option of having a reserve day.
