ENG vs NZ, 1st Test: New Zealand's star all-rounder Glenn Phillips continued his sublime form in the longest format as he took a brilliant one-handed catch in the series opener against England. His brilliantly fielding efforts led to Ollie Pope's dismissal on the second day in Christchurch.

The Ben Stokes-led side were reeling at 71/4 as that's when Pope came in to bat at No.6 position and joined Harry Brook at the crease. The Kiwis had posted a respectable target of 348 runs during the first innings and to chase down the target, the visitors needed just one partnership. Pope came in as a middle-order batter and was batting as a wicket-keeper batter since Jamie Smith was unavailable and Jordan Cox sustained a late injury.

Pope had a shaky start. He did survive a few edges, which went towards the boundary but he did look settled once he was comfortable.

Both he and Brook stitched a partnership of 150 runs for the fifth wicket but then it ended abruptly. Pope mistimed a shot in Tim Southee's over as the ball had touched the off-stump.

The ball was far away from Philipps, but it was at the right height. He dove towards his right and also stretched his hand to take that stunning catch.

Ollie Pope got out after scoring 77 runs off 98 balls, which also includes eight fours under his kitty.

Glenn Phillips replicated his effort from when he dismissed Marnus Labuschagne earlier this year

Glenn Phillips took the same brilliant catch during the second Test match against Australia earlier this year. In that match too he was standing at gully and dove to his right and took a stunning catch and dismissed Marnus Labuschagne, who had scored 90 runs.

Marnus had mistimed a cut shot in Tim Southee's over just before lunch and was left stunned by Glenn Phillips' brilliant fielding efforts.
