Delhi created history in women’s domestic cricket on Thursday, posting a record total of 262 for 6 against Hyderabad in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at the MCA Ground 2 in Gahunje, Pune. They went on to register a comfortable 108-run victory after restricting Hyderabad to 154 for 8.

Delhi’s total is now the highest innings score in women’s domestic T20 cricket, surpassing Goa’s previous record of 257 for 2 against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2019-20 season.

The score is also the 11th highest in women’s T20 cricket overall, with the 10 higher totals coming in women’s T20Is.

Tanisha Singh Smashes 119 Off 47 Balls

The star of the day was Delhi opener Tanisha Singh, who played a stunning knock of 119 off just 47 deliveries. The 23-year-old reached her century in only 38 balls, making it the joint third-fastest hundred in women’s T20 cricket. Notably, Tanisha Singh remained unsold in the recently concluded auction for the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026.

Only Kiran Navgire, who scored a century in 34 balls, and Sophie Devine, who reached the milestone in 36 deliveries, have recorded faster hundreds. Tanisha’s effort also matched West Indies batter Deandra Dottin’s 38-ball century against South Africa in 2010.

Tanisha’s innings included 25 fours and a six, helping Delhi put Hyderabad’s bowling attack under pressure from the start.

Tanisha And Priya Punia Put Delhi In Command

Delhi lost opener Vanshika Lila early, but Tanisha found an able partner in India international Priya Punia. The duo added 160 runs off just 66 balls for the second wicket, setting the platform for Delhi’s record-breaking total.

Punia contributed 59 off 28 deliveries, keeping the scoring rate high as Delhi crossed the 175-run mark. Shweta Sehrawat then provided a quick boost with 26 off just eight balls, including three sixes, as Delhi moved past 200.

Tanisha was eventually bowled by G Trisha, but Delhi continued to score freely in the closing overs. Contributions from Nazma Khan and Deeksha Sharma, along with captain Soni Yadav’s 15 runs, helped the team finish at 262 for 6.

For Hyderabad, Vanka Pooja was the most successful bowler, taking four wickets for 32 runs in her four overs. Delhi’s free-hitting proved hard to contain for the other bowlers, the remaining seven going for at least 11 an over.

Hyderabad Fall Flat Despite Trisha's Half-Century

Hyderabad were off to a good start chasing the mammoth target of 263 with opener G Trisha leading the fightback. She scored 80 off 52 balls, but the required run rate proved too difficult to maintain.

Captain Pranavi Chandra was the only other Hyderabad batter to cross the 20-run mark as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

Delhi’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase, with Sumiti Soni picking up three wickets for 28 runs. Hyderabad eventually finished at 154 for 8, handing Delhi a commanding 108-run victory. The tournament began on October 26 and is scheduled to continue until November 20.
