New Zealand's captain, Kane Williamson, is poised to make his much-anticipated return to the Cricket World Cup 2023 following a remarkable recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The skipper addressed the media at New Zealand's press conference before their upcoming match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, indicating his readiness to return to action.

Williamson's return to the squad is a testament to his determination and commitment to representing his country in the World Cup. He had sustained the ACL injury while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) just six months ago, and his recovery has been nothing short of remarkable. While he missed the first two matches of the tournament against England and the Netherlands, he did feature in New Zealand's Cricket World Cup warm-up matches against Pakistan and South Africa.

"It's been quite a journey but largely a good one that's had some really good progress and you know I've said a number of times, (I'm) really excited to be named in the World Cup squad, be sitting here now and really excited at the prospect of tomorrow, which is another big challenge for us," Williamson began.

"A new venue, new opposition, as we know, which always happens in world events. We're looking forward to the challenge."

Kane Williamson's comeback is eagerly awaited by cricket fans, and his presence will undoubtedly boost New Zealand's campaign in the World Cup. The 33-year-old's experience and leadership on the field make him a vital asset for the team.

In addition to the news about Williamson, he also confirmed that Tim Southee, who has been recovering from a hand injury sustained during New Zealand's tour of England last month, is still unavailable for selection. Despite making progress in his recovery, Southee will not be part of the lineup for the upcoming match.

A victory over Bangladesh in their next match would propel New Zealand to the top of the Cricket World Cup 2023 table, following their comfortable wins over England and the Netherlands. Kane Williamson's return to the side is sure to be a significant boost as they continue their campaign in the tournament.
