The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, set to take place in India, will feature a substantial prize pool of USD 10 million (INR 82 Cr), as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on September 22. The breakdown of the prize money for the tournament has also been unveiled, with the winners of the World Cup scheduled to receive a significant share.

The champions of the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 will be awarded USD 4 (INR 33 Cr. approx) million out of the total prize pool, making it a highly coveted prize for the participating teams. The runners-up in the final, which is slated to be held on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, will take home USD 2 million (INR 16.5 Cr. approx)

In addition to the rewards for the top-performing teams in the tournament, there is prize money available for victories during the Group Stage. Teams will receive USD 40,000 for each win in the round-robin format. For teams that do not progress to the knockout stage, there is a consolation prize of USD 100,000 at the end of the Group Stage.

This announcement marks a significant development in cricket as the prize money for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 sets a precedent for gender equality in the sport. The ICC has declared that the prize money structure for the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in 2025 will be on par with the men's event. This move is in line with efforts to promote gender equity and recognition in cricket.

The 13th edition of the Men's Cricket World Cup will see the participation of 10 teams. India secured its place as the host nation, while New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa earned their spots through the Super League. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands battled their way through the Qualifier to secure their positions in the World Cup.

The tournament, featuring 48 matches across 10 venues, will kick off on October 5 with a highly anticipated rematch of the previous edition's final between defending champions England and New Zealand. Ahead of the World Cup's commencement, each participating team will engage in two warm-up matches to prepare for the extensive 46-day tournament. This World Cup promises to be a thrilling and competitive spectacle in the world of cricket.
