ODI World Cup 2027 Schedule: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027, set to run from October 2 to November 21 next year. The first official match of the marquee tournament will be played on October 7 between India and Australia.
India, Pakistan and Australia have been drawn in Group A alongside host Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. England, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in Group B. The remaining one team in each group will be selected after the qualifying Super Series, which will be played from October 2 to October 6.
South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified directly as hosts, alongside the best eight teams on the ICC Menโs ODI Team Rankings at the 30 September 2026 cut-off. India, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan have already qualified for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The remaining four spots will be decided at the Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The top-placed finisher goes directly to the Group Stage, while the other three teams compete in the Super Series for a Group Stage spot.
ODI World Cup 2027 Schedule:
The Group Stage will begin on October 7, with India taking on Australia in a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final in Cape Town. South Africa will begin their campaign against New Zealand in Cape Town on October 9, while co-host Zimbabwe will face Qualifier A in Bulawayo on the same day. The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash will be played in Johannesburg on October 10.

ODI World Cup 2027 To Have A New Format:
The upcoming World Cup will be played in a new format with three stages before the knockout stage. The tournament will officially begin on October 2, 2027. Three teams will play a Super Series in Windhoek, Namibia, to determine the last group stage team.
Only two will further advance to the World Cup. The remaining 11 teams have been split in two groups -- 6 each. Only seven teams will progress to the Super 7 stage.

The top three teams from each group, plus the better fourth-placed finisher, will advance to the Super 7 stage, starting the round with zero points. The top four teams from the Super 7 move on to the semi-finals and the final.
