Pakistan defeated South Africa by 93 runs in the first Test in Lahore to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. They produced an impressive effort and wrapped things up well inside four days.

The ongoing series marked the return of Babar Azam in international cricket after a couple of months. In an interesting turn of events, a Pakistani fan entered the Pakistan team's dressing room to meet the former all-format captain Babar.

In a video going viral on the internet, a fan can be seen climbing the enclosure at Gaddafi Stadium and entering Pakistan’s dressing room. However, the members of the Pakistan Test team's support staff were surprised to see the fan's gesture and were quick to ask him to leave.

Babar, who has served as captain of the Pakistani team in all three formats of the game, celebrated his 31st birthday on Wednesday (October 15), but in the first Test match played at his home ground, he failed to impress much with the bat in both innings. In the first innings, he scored 23 runs from 48 balls after walking out to bat at No. 4, and in the second innings, he added 42 runs to his team’s total from 72 balls.

During his stay at the crease in the first innings, Babar entered his name in the history books as he became the first cricketer from Asia to score 3000 runs in the World Test Championship (WTC). The senior batter headed into the first Test just two runs short of a milestone, which he reached by hitting South African spinner Senuran Muthusamy for a four on the fourth ball of the 49th over.

The fan tried to escape with a first attempt to climb down the same Enclosure, but spotted the security behind. On seeing no way out, he begged for mercy and then walked back towards the coaching staff members to request it. However, the security officials intervened in time and escorted him away.

Interestingly, Babar was not present in the dressing room at the time of the incident. However, he was later told about the fan by those coaching staff members, and he was shocked to hear it.

Babar's contribution of 42 runs helped Pakistan set a steep target of 277 runs before the hosts bowled South Africa out for 183 runs.

The second and final Test match of the series will be played in Rawalpindi, starting October 20.
