PAK vs Oman Asia Cup 2025: Pakistan registered a comprehensive 93-run victory against Oman during their tournament opener in Dubai on Friday. Skipper Salman won the toss and chose to bat first and revealed that they wanted to pressurise a weaker team by posting a mammoth target. But opener Saim Ayub, who is considered the next big thing in Pakistan cricket, couldn't open his account and was dismissed for a golden duck.

Another opener, Sahibzada Farhan, scored a brilliant knock of 29 runs, but he batted at a strike rate of 100. Mohammad Haris came in at No.3 position, and he was the only one who performed well. He scored a match-winning knock of 66 runs off 43 balls. Besides him, none of the other batters could score runs against Oman. Fakhar Zaman, who came in to bat at the No.4 position, also scored just 23 runs off 16 balls.

Pakistan's batting lineup was seen struggling as they had posted a meager target of 160 runs. While defending this target, the Pakistani bowlers rattled Oman's batting attack as they were skittled out for 67 runs. The Men in Green might have won the match comfortably, but they do need to work on a lot of areas before the high-octane clash against arch-rivals India.

What needs to change vs India?

To face the in-form Indian team, the Salman Ali Agha-led side will have to bat aggressively during the middle overs. Before their match against Oman, their head coach, Mike Hesson, emphasised that it was important to play aggressive cricket, but that wasn't visible. The Indian batters generally play aggressively, and that might put the Men in Green in a spot of bother.

The bowlers will also have a hard time. The Indian team boasts of a formidable batting attack, and that's why they will find it hard to take wickets constantly. Their intent will matter the most while facing India, who are the strongest contenders in this tournament.
