Pakistan's senior pace bowler Hasan Ali has expressed his desire to be a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and play in it as he lauded the marquee domestic league in India.
"IPL is a big league, it has a lot of money and glamour but every player wants to take part in it," Hasan said while speaking to Samaa TV.
"It’s not like no one wants to play. But obviously, we can’t play there for reasons I don’t want to talk about everyone knows," he added.
Hasan, who was a part of the Pakistan team in the recently concluded World Cup 2023 in India, has a wish to play in the IPL if he gets the opportunity for the same.
"I wish to play there. If given the opportunity I will definitely play there," he further said.
Notably, Pakistan players were part of the inaugural season of the IPL before they were banned from the competition due to the increasing political tension between their country and India.
In the first season, big names like Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, and Kamran Akmal had taken part in the cash-rich competition.
Hasan Ali was included in Pakistan's World Cup squad as an injury replacement for the young Naseem Shah.
The pacer managed to finish the tournament with 9 wickets in six games but Pakistan failed to make it to the semi-finals.
Hasan Ali along with the Pakistan side will travel to Australia as part of the WTC cycle where the two sides will face off in a three-match series.
Pakistan team has now a new Test captain as Shan Masood took over the job from Babar Azam in the red-ball format.
Babar was criticised heavily after Pakistan's disappointing campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023 as he ended up stepping down as the skipper from all formats.
