Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday stated that there are no concerns about Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah taking the top place in the International Cricket Council (ICC).

At the end of last month, Shah was unopposed elected as ICC Chairman and will take over the reins of the global cricket governing body from Greg Barclay, who opted not to pursue a third term.

PCB Chairman Naqvi opened up about Shah taking up the role of the ICC chairman and the next Asian Cricket Council meeting.

"We are in touch with Jay Shah; there are no concerns about his becoming ICC Chairman. The ACC meeting is on September 8 and 9," Naqvi told reporters, as quoted from Geo News.

With Shah taking over the ICC job officially in December, he would have to vacate not just BCCI's secretary position but also the chairman of ACC.
Shah will be the youngest ever to take over the top role at ICC and is only the fifth Indian to become the head of the global cricketing body.

Naqvi also confirmed he would not be attending the meeting and revealed that Salman Nasir would represent Pakistan.

“I will not be able to attend the meeting, and Salman Nasir will attend. The meeting will finalise matters related to the new president,” the PCB chairman said.

Naqvi confirmed that the Pakistan Cricket Board have been in contact with the BCCI and said, “The Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan. We are in touch with the boards of the teams participating in the tournament.”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is gearing up with preparations to host the Champions Trophy next year. Karachi National Stadium, Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium, and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium are under renovation work for the marquee event.
