Prithvi Shaw slammed the second-fastest double hundred by an Indian batter in List A cricket with a knock of 244 off 153 balls studded with 11 sixes and 28 fours for Northamptonshire in the One-Day Cup on Wednesday.
Shaw's innings was also the highest-ever score in List A for his county club Northamptonshire which guided them to a 87-run victory over Somerset. After his knock, the opening batter shut his critics with a jibe at Indian selectors as the batter has been out of the side for more than two years.
Shaw had a dismal IPL season and his recent form in domestic cricket also did not favour him in selection for the T20I series against Ireland and next month's Asian Games in China.
"Definitely (here for the) experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here," Shaw said after the game.
"Northamptonshire have given me this opportunity... they're really looking after me. I'm really enjoying it," he added.
This is 6 minutes of pure batting heaven from Prithvi Shaw.

The 23-year-old is playing his first county season and it took him three mates to score his first century in English cricket.
Shaw admitted that bright sunny conditions helped him to play long and he played with a feeling that it was his day.
"The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today (Wednesday) so it was really looking good. I wasn't thinking about anything. You know when an inside edge doesn't get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn't look back after that. When I got 150 I thought I was timing the ball really well and this could be the day to go bigger," he said.
The performance saw the Mumbai batter surpass his 227-run highest List A score, which he had previously achieved in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Puducherry in February 2021.
"The 227 was in my head to be honest. I spoke to Whitey (Sam Whiteman) when he was there and I told him it's 227, my highest score. It was a good team effort all around. I always try and win matches for the team and I'm the kind of a player who puts my team first and then myself," Shaw said.
