Former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid's son Anvay Dravid continued to impress on the India Under-19 tour of Sri Lanka with a fine knock in the second unofficial ODI.

Batting first, India Under-19 failed to get a good start as Sri Lanka removed two batters for just 11 runs inside the opening four overs. VK Vineeth and Kushagra Ojha then brought the innings back on track by adding 67 runs for the third wicket.

But India’s troubles returned soon after as they slipped to 81/4 in the 19th over. At that stage, Anvay walked in and joined Arjun Rajput at the crease. The duo put together an excellent 145-run partnership for the fifth wicket to lift India out of trouble.

Rajput played an important innings of 76 before being run out by a sharp throw from Dimantha Mahavithana. Anvay, meanwhile, looked comfortable from the start and kept the scoreboard moving with positive strokeplay.

The young wicketkeeper-batter struck nine fours and one six during his innings. He reached his first half-century in Youth ODI cricket in just 47 balls after taking on Chamika Heenatigala with a six and a four in successive deliveries.

Anvay’s impressive knock came to an end in the 44th over when Gimhan Mendis dismissed him for 87. India were eventually bowled out for 285 in 46 overs.

Mendis was Sri Lanka’s best bowler, finishing with a five-wicket haul. Besides Anvay, he also removed Sagar Virk, Yashveer Goud, Anmoljeet Singh and Ishan Sood.

India Under-19 went into the match with a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. They won the opening game by four wickets after successfully chasing a challenging target of 321 with four balls to spare. Anvay had scored 14 runs in that match.

Anvay's last outing for India

A right-handed batter and wicketkeeper, Anvay had represented India B Under-19 before this tour. He played in the Under-19 tri-series against Afghanistan Under-19 at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru in November 2025.

The three unofficial ODIs are being played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. After the ODI series, the teams will meet again in two unofficial Tests, with the first match scheduled to begin on July 13 at the Galle International Stadium.
