R Ashwin In BBL: Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently hung up his boots from the Indian Premier League (IPL), could feature in Australia's BBL (Big Bash League) as per a report in Cricbuzz. The report states that Cricket Australia (CA) CEO Todd Greenberg held discussions with Ashwin about the possibility of him playing in the premier T20 competition in the country. The report also suggested that “discussions took place after Greenberg reportedly reached out to Ashwin as soon as he’d announced his IPL retirement last week.”
Greenberg confirmed to Cricbuzz that a deal with Ashwin is in the making, and he is confident that it will materialise as well.
“To get someone with Ashwin’s credentials to come over here for the BBL will be great at so many levels. He’s a champion cricketer who will bring a lot to the Big Bash and to our cricket summer,” Greenberg was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Interestingly, if the deal is indeed materialised, Ashwin will become the first ever Indian Cricketer to feature in the Big Bash. A veteran of 765 international wickets in 287 matches, Ashwin has served the nation for 14 years since his debut in 2010.
“Yes, I am in talks with the organisers. Hopefully, I will have a buyer if I register for the auction,” Ashwin told Cricbuzz. September 10 is the last date for enrolment to the auction.
Last year, Ashwin announced his retirement from Test cricket in the middle of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The veteran all-rounder sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity by announcing his retirement from international cricket following the draw in the third Test at Brisbane.

After bidding adieu to international formats, Ashwin returned to the Chennai Super Kings and saw his side finish last for the first time in the history of the tournament. He enjoyed a mediocre run with seven wickets from nine appearances and had his last dance at Chepauk.
