RCB vs CSK, IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League 2024 match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been called ‘the last dance.’ This means there is a high chance that both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli might have played together for the last time. In this virtual knockout of the tournament, one team’s victory meant heartbreak for the other. The most die-hard cricket fans were left emotional after the match. Had CSK won the match, it would have meant another heartbreaking year for Kohli, and with RCB winning, this could well be MS Dhoni’s last match. In the end, Kohli was ecstatic while Dhoni was left heartbroken as RCB beat CSK by 27 runs and reached the playoffs for the ninth time.

When CSK needed just 10 runs to win in the last two balls and Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t hit those winning runs, Dhoni sat in the dugout, heartbroken, knowing that the time had come. But what he did after the match has raised speculations about his future. This season was supposed to be his last. He had admitted last year that he would play for at least one more year for the fans, but this time, things didn’t go as planned.

In a blink-and-miss moment post-RCB’s victory, Dhoni was seen shaking hands with the RCB players. While RCB was busy celebrating the win, Dhoni quickly vanished from the dugout. He did shake hands with some of the players and the support staff, but he vanished without interacting with players like Faf Du Plessis, Virat Kohli, or even Siraj. It was quite visible when the Faf Du Plessis-led side was shaking hands with the CSK players, except Dhoni, who wasn’t seen anywhere. So, is this the last time the world has seen the legendary cricketer?

Has MS Dhoni played his final IPL match?

Probably yes, and if that’s the case, then his IPL career’s ending couldn’t have been more dramatic. Usually known for finishing matches, Dhoni was batting till the last over. When CSK needed just 17 runs to win, Dhoni smashed Yash Dayal for a huge six but couldn't do the same on the second ball, as he got out after scoring 25 runs off 13 balls, including three fours and a six. He was disappointed as he was seen hitting the bat aggressively after misjudging the shot, indicating that it might be his last match. But if there’s one thing about him, it’s his unpredictability.

Even if this wasn’t his last match, he will not reveal anything anytime soon. If he has thought about hanging up his boots, he won’t snatch the attention from the four teams who gave their everything to qualify for the playoffs. Former cricketers like Suresh Raina have revealed that MS Dhoni might play next year as well. The transition might have been made from Dhoni to Ruturaj, but the team might still need his input even more for the next season unless Ruturaj is made into a finisher like him.

No one knows what's going on inside Dhoni’s head. Dhoni’s last Test match against Australia in Sydney and then his last ODI against New Zealand in Manchester were also rain-affected games.
