Pant has been out of competitive cricketing action for a while now and is recovering from the multiple injuries he sustained in the car accident but has shown promising improvement and determination as he gears up to make a return in the Indian team.
The Indian cricket fans have been happy and satisfied with Pant's fast recovery as they get regular updates on his fitness through social media.
Pant has missed all major cricket events this year, including the 2023 World Cup, and is now expected to make a comeback in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 26-year-old was among the players retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2024 auction which is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19.
While Pant wasn't named in the squads selected for the South Africa tour, he was reported to have joined his DC teammates last month during a training camp at the Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus pitch.
Pant's potential return was confirmed by the former Indian skipper and Delhi Capitals' team director Sourav Ganguly.
"He's (Pant) good now. He will play in the IPL next season," Ganguly was quoted as saying by PTI at the camp last month.
Pant last played an international match a few days before the car accident in December during India's second Test match against Bangladesh.
In Pant's absence, Ishan Kishan was given the wicketkeeping duties in T20Is, while KL Rahul donned the gloves in ODIs and Tests.
Pant has been India's regular key player across formats in the past few years. He had also led India during the side's T20I series against South Africa in June last year and was named in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year for 2021.
