IND vs AUS 3rd Test: India's star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant will be making a comeback to the same venue which helped him become the wonderful batter that he is today as the Men in Blue will play the third Test against Australia in Brisbane. The visitors were dealt with a huge blow after losing the second Test match to Australia in Adelaide by 10 wickets and they continue to struggle against the pink ball. Pant hasn't been at his absolute best in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy till now as he has scored just 87 runs after playing in two matches.
, Pant was seen playing some brilliant shots during the second innings of the second Test match as he went all-guns-blazing against the seamers despite the visitors suffering a batting collapse. At the same time, the Pat Cummins-led side is yet to witness the vintage Pant back in form, who booked his permanent spot in the national Test squad on the back of two brilliant innings he scored the last time he visited Australia.
It was Sydney, where Pant became a new emerging talent for Indian cricket in 2021 as he ripped apart Nathan Lyon by taking him to the cleaners. On the back of his brilliant knock of 97 runs off 118 balls, the Men in Blue inched closer to chasing the mammoth target of 407 runs but instead, the match ended in a tie.

But, Pant announced his arrival in style during the next Test match in Brisbane, where he scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs and helped the visitors record their highest-ever run chase in the longest format in SENA countries of 328 runs. This win became even more special as India ended Australia's 32-year-long winning streak at the Gabba and also helped the visitors win their second successive series in Australia.
With this series, Pant announced his arrival in Test cricket in style as his name was taken with India's one of the greatest Test series wins in overseas conditions. His career in the longest format only improved after his match-winning performance in Gabba since he was considered one of the world's best wicket-keeper batters. After the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he had scored 1966 runs after playing in 27 matches at an average of 44.68 and a staggering strike rate of 77.61.
Rishabh Pant hungry for more after Test comeback
Pant made a stunning comeback to the longest format after 21 months by scoring a match-winning hundred against Bangladesh at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium earlier this year and then scored 99, 60, and 94 runs in the three-match Test series against the Kiwis. In 2024, Border-Gavaskar Trophy Pant has been able to get starts but has failed to convert them into big totals.
His amazing strokeplay in Adelaide might have reminded the hosts of his brilliance in the past as these are warning signs for Australia for the rest of the series. But Pant has to score big for the Men in Blue, who couldn't score much in the last three of the four innings till now.
The youngster must be looking forward to yet another battle with his arch-nemesis Nathan Lyon, against whom he was involved in multiple battles during the 2021 tour. The visitor seriously needs their star batter to perform as they would be playing the third Test match in the same venue, where they created history way back in 2021. Although, the Pat Cummins-led side will try to take revenge for losing the last series Pant will once again try to add woes to their misery and ruin their plans by conquering the Gabba fortress once again.
