T20 World Cup 2024 India Squad: Virat Kohli's strike rate was an interesting topic of discussion when Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and BCCI chief selector came up to address a press conference to discuss over the team's 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Kohli, who made it to India's T20 World Cup squad, is in red-hot form in the ongoing IPL 2024, having scored 500 runs at an average of 71.43 in 10 matches.
It's his strike rate of 147.49 that came under the radar for which he faced criticism as well.

On the other hand, chief selector Ajit Agarkar reacted to the question over Kohli's strike rate and mentioned that it was not even a topic of discussion among the selectors.
"About Virat Kohli's strike rate, I don't think we have been discussing it. No look he has been in great form fortunately in the IPL no concerns there at all. With regards to what's going on in the IPL, you're still going to a World Cup. It's still international cricket, there's still that gap there. You've got to prepare knowing that there's that gap there. That's where experience does matter.
"If the tournament turns out to be like the IPL is, where 220 is normal, we still have enough power. We can match that. There is no real point in thinking. You have to look at the positives happening in the IPL. Form of the new guys, their performances. But at the end of the day, when you turn up in the World Cup, the pressure will be different," said Agarkar.

It is to be noted that it was speculated a few months ago that Kohli might miss out on the T20 World Cup but it seemed that the former Indian skipper was one of the obvious inclusions in the side.
Kohli is the highest run-getter in T20 World Cup history and was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament in the 2014 and 2016 editions. He was also the top run-getter in the 2014 and 2022 editions.
