JE Sports Desk: Rohit Sharma has retained the captaincy for the upcoming Test series against West Indies as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced Test and ODI squads for the Caribbean tour next month.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was a standby player for World Test Championship final but opted out due to his marriage, has got his maiden call in the Test squad along with opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal and fast bowler Mukesh Kumar.
KS Bharat retains his place in the squad as a wicket-keeper after disappointing performances with the bat along with Ishan Kishan as the other option to take the gloves.
Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped while Ajinkya Rahane has been named as the vice-captain. Jaydev Unadkat retains his place in the Test squad with Navdeep Saini making a return in the longer format.
Talking about the ODI squad, Gaikwad earned a place in the ODI setup along with Sanju Samson. Rajasthan Royals skipper Samson makes entry to India's squad after India's tour of New Zealand in November 2022. Pacer Jaydev Unadkat has also been named in the ODI squad.
Mukesh Kumar finds a place in the ODIs as well as Mohammed Siraj, Umran Malik, and Shardul Thakur as the other options in the seam attack.

India’s ODI squad: Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Virat Kohli, Surya Kumar Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shardul Thakur, R Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar.
BCCI has informed that the squad for the T20Is against West Indies will be announced later,
India are scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T2OIs on the West Indies tour which will start with the first Test at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica from Wednesday, July 12.
