The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has lifted the three-year ban on former India fast bowler S. Sreesanth after he submitted an unconditional apology.

Why did the KCA ban Sreesanth?

Sreesanth was banned for making comments on social and visual media that the KCA believed had damaged the association's image. He had challenged the decision in the Thiruvananthapuram Munsiff Court, but the court dismissed his petition, according to the KCA.

Why KCA revoke Sreesanth's ban?

After that, the former India pacer sent an official apology, expressing regret for his remarks against the association.

The matter was discussed during the KCA's Special General Body meeting on July 1, 2026. Members accepted Sreesanth's apology and unanimously agreed to cancel the ban.

At the same time, the KCA made it clear that any similar behaviour in the future could lead to fresh disciplinary action.

With the suspension now removed, Sreesanth can continue as the co-owner of the Aries Kollam Sailors franchise in Season 3 of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). The ban had prevented him from being involved during the previous season.

Sreesanth's cricketing career

Sreesanth enjoyed a successful international career with India, representing the team in all three formats. He played 27 Test matches, 53 One-Day Internationals and 10 T20 Internationals.

In Test cricket, he took 87 wickets at an average of 37.59. His best bowling figures were 5 for 40 in an innings and 8 for 99 in a match. He also recorded four four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls.

In ODIs, Sreesanth picked 75 wickets at an average of 33.44, with his best performance being 6 for 55. He also picked up seven wickets in 10 T20Is for India.

His domestic record was equally impressive. He played 74 first-class matches and picked up 213 wickets, with best figures of 5 for 40. He also has 124 scalps in 92 List A matches and 54 wickets in 65 T20 games.
