MI vs IPL 2025 Qualifier 2: Punjab Kings' star batter Shashank Singh has reckoned that skipper Shreyas Iyer might have given him a tight slap and not just scolded him despite winning the second qualifier against MI during IPL 2025. Punjab Kings had defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets as they chased the mammoth target of 204 runs in 19 overs on the back of Shreyas Iyer's match-winning knock of 87 runs off 41 balls.

But Iyer was seen getting angry at Shashank for his casual attitude while running and that resulted in him getting run out at an important stage in the match. Shashank has finally opened up on the controversial incident and revealed that even his father didn't talk to him till the summit clash.

"I deserve it, Iyer should have slapped me, my father didn’t speak to me till the finals. I was casual, I was walking on the beach not even in the garden. It was a crucial time, Shreyas was clear that I didn’t expect this from you but later he took me out for dinner,” Shashank was quoted as saying to the Indian Express.

He also talked about his brilliant innings during the summit clash and the fact that he planned to leave 24 runs during the last over. But Bhuvnshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly and that lead was extended by 30 runs.

“I had done my calculation of the last two overs, Bhuvi likes to bowl yorkers so I had planned to get at least 16-17 runs from him. I calculated that in the last over our target should be 24 runs in 6 balls. I got only 13 from Bhuvi’s over though, so the final over runs needed was 30,” he concluded.

Shashank scored an unbeaten knock of 61 runs off 30 balls, in which he smashed three fours and six sixes but he still lost the match by seven runs. He was heartbroken as he failed to help the team win their maiden title.

Shashank had scored 350 runs after playing in 14 matches at a brilliant average of 50 and a staggering strike rate of 153.50, which also includes three half-centuries.
