India women vs Australia women 2nd ODI match: Smriti Mandhana produced another batting masterclass as she smashed a remarkable century during the second ODI match between India women and Australia women at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Wednesday.
Mandhana completed her century in just 77 balls, equalling the women's world record with her 12th ODI ton. After being put into bat first, India were off to a promising start, thanks to an impressive effort from Mandhana again, who is going through a magnificent form in the format.

Mandhana's hundred is also the second-fastest against Australia Women in the ODI format; Nat Sciver Brunt had got there in 79 balls at Seddon Park, Hamilton during the 2022 World Cup. The left-handed batter has now equalled the record for most women's ODI centuries as an opener.
The elegant southpaw equalled New Zealand’s Suzie Bates and England’s Tammy Beaumont with her 12th century in only 106 innings as an opener for India since her debut in 2013. This was the second-fastest century by an Indian woman in ODIs, only behind her own 70-ball hundred against Ireland in Rajkot earlier this year in January.
Most women's ODI centuries as opener
Suzie Bates (NZ): 12 centuries and 5059 runs
Smriti Mandhana (IND): 12 centuries and 4724 runs
Tammy Beaumont (ENG): 12 centuries and 4460 runs
Charlotte Edwards (ENG): 9 centuries and 4048 runs
Hailey Matthews (WI): 9 centuries and 2678 runs
Overall, Mandhana stands joint-third on the ODI century-making list among women, with only Meg Lanning (15) and Bates (13) ahead of her. On the back of her fifty in the series opener, Mandhana regained the No. 1 position in the most recent ICC ODI women’s batting rankings.
She ended up playing a 117-run knock in 91 balls in the second ODI match on the back of 14 fours and four sixes. She stitched a 70-run opening stand with Pratika Rawal before adding crucial runs with Harleen Deol (49-run partnership), skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (33-run stand) and Deepti Sharma (40-run partnership).
