India's star opener and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is all set to marry Indian music composer Palash Muchhal. The development was confirmed by Palash himself recently in Indore, while Mandhana continues to represent the national team in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2025.

The left-handed batter Mandhana is currently in action in the India vs England match that got underway on Sunday at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.

During an event at the State Press Club in Indore on Friday, Muchhal, who hails from the city, was asked about his bond with Smriti, and he said, "She will soon become the daughter-in-law of Indore...that's all I want to say."

In the past, the duo shared pictures of themselves together on multiple occasions, but never confirmed the relationship officially. Mandhana is aged 29, whereas Palash is a 30-year-old music composer. Notably, the match against England is their fifth in the marquee tournament as they are in desperate need of a win in order to remain alive in the semifinal race after the disappointing results in their last two matches.

They headed into the England game on the back of a heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the previous match. They allowed Australia to pull off the highest successful run chase in women's ODI history.

As of now, with 4 points from four matches, India are fourth in the points table. New Zealand also have four points to their credit, but they are in fifth place due to a poor net run rate (NRR) in comparison to India.

On the other hand, Australia and South Africa have already booked their respective places in the semifinals. If England beat India in Indore, then the Nat Sciver-Brunt-led side will also be through to the last four.

Talking about Mandhana, she has been in incredible batting form in ODI cricket lately, breaking records for fun. In the ongoing tournament, Mandhana became the first batter in women's cricket to complete 1000 WODI runs in a calendar year. She also became the youngest ever and only the second Indian to complete 5000 runs in WODIs.
