IND vs AUS: On the back of his brilliant performance in the Asia Cup 2025, star India batter Abhishek Sharma has now begun his preparation for his first Australia tour. He will next be seen in action in the five-match T20I series, which will begin later this month.
The youngster had posted a video of his training session with his mentor, Yuvraj Singh. He has been working on his big-hitting abilities.
He was adjudged as the player of the tournament as he helped the team stay unbeaten in the Asia Cup 2025 and helped the team lift the title. He had scored 314 runs after playing in seven matches and at a strike rate of 200.
Post going back home, Abhishek talked about how Yuvraj started mentoring him in the COVID lockdown after he had requested him to do so, as he thought that he was lagging behind his fellow teammates who were playing for India. Apart from Shubman Gill, Prabhsimran Singh, and Anmolpreet Singh, he had a camp with Yuvraj and started working on his skills.

“I was struggling a bit back then. I wasn’t consistent in the IPL and was not even in the playing XI, while players from my age group, like Shubman, were already playing for India. I started to feel left behind," Abhishek was quoted as saying on Breakfast With Champions.
Yuvraj did tell him that he would soon win matches for India.
“Main tujhe ready kar raha hun taki tu India ko matches jeetaye (I’m preparing you to win matches for India). Write this down – it will happen in the next two to three years," he added.
Abhishek has featured in 24 T20Is till now, where he has scored 849 runs at a staggering strike rate of 196.07. He has hit two tons and five fifties, where his highest individual score was 135, which is the highest by an Indian batter in this format.
The five-match T20I series will begin on October 29.
