Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan finished the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka with a record 238 runs, becoming the highest run-scorer in a bilateral three-match men's T20I series between two Full Member nations.

Farhan's record-breaking run came to an end on Monday when Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the final match in Rawalpindi. The defeat did not affect Pakistan's series win, as the hosts had taken an unassailable lead by winning the first two matches.

Farhan Goes Past Abhishek Sharma

Farhan scored 76 off 47 balls in the third T20I, registering his third consecutive half-century of the series. His innings took his total to 238, moving him past India's destructive opener Abhishek Sharma, who scored 229 against Afghanistan earlier this year.

New Zealand's Colin Munro is third with 223 runs against West Indies in the 2023-24 series. Australia's David Warner follows with 217 runs against Sri Lanka in 2019, while Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai also comes in the top five with 204 runs against Ireland in 2019.

Kusal Mendis steers Sri Lanka to easy victory

Sri Lanka completed the series on a high, successfully chasing down Pakistan’s 168/8 with 17 balls to spare at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

Captain Kusal Mendis was the star of the chase, scoring a quickfire 87 off 47 deliveries. His innings earned him the Player of the Match award and helped Sri Lanka seal an eight-wicket victory.

Pakistan had won the opening T20I by four wickets on October 9 before recording an 82-run victory in the second match on October 11. Sri Lanka managed to win the final game on October 13, but Pakistan had already secured the series.

Sahibzada Farhan Talks About His Form

After the match, Farhan said Pakistan had stuck to the same approach in the final game that had worked for them in the first two matches. He also spoke about the importance of staying consistent and making the most of his good form.

"The way we set a superb target in the first two matches, today also we had the same plan, but it's cricket; anything can happen. The effort is to stay consistent. When I perform well, I'm even more focused to do well in the next match. It's cricket; you're not always in form. So I'm looking to make the most of it," Farhan said, as quoted by the ICC website.

Kusal Mendis Praises Sri Lanka's Performance

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis was pleased with the team's efforts across all three departments. He highlighted the improvement in bowling and fielding and also praised Kamindu Mendis for his contribution with the bat.

"We bowled really well today in the middle period. The fielding was better too, and the batting was excellent. Kamindu (Mendis) batted really well after the Powerplay. He played his natural game, and I did too. We did really well in all three departments," he said.
