SA vs SL, 1st Test: South Africa's star batter Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma on Friday scripted history as they registered the highest partnership for the fourth wicket in the longest format against Sri Lanka of 249 runs. They built this partnership in the first Test in Durban. They also surpassed the record of 192 runs created by AB De Villiers and Jacques Kallis in 2012 in Cape Town.

Both Stubbs and Bavuma scored hundreds each and helped the hosts post a mammoth target of 516 runs. It was also the fourth-highest partnership for the fourth wicket against Sri Lanka in the longest format. In 2019, Travis Head and Joe Burns stitched a partnership of 308 runs in Canberra and that record is still unbroken.

Michael Hussey and Shaun Marsh's partnership of 258 runs in 2011 is lying at the second position in this list. The partnership of 256 runs between Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly for the fourth wicket in 1997 in Mumbai is lying at the third position in this list.
