Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20I Match Result: Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe's senior all-rounder, scripted his name in the history books as he ended up breaking Virat Kohli's enormous record after the second T20I match against Zimbabwe on Saturday.
Zimbabwe produced an incredible effort to defeat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets in the second T20I to make it 1-1 in the three-match series. After the match, Sikandar Raza went past Kohli’s world record of winning the most Player of the Match (POTM) awards in T20Is.

Raza led from the front as Zimbabwe bounced back after losing the first match. They bowled Sri Lanka for just 80 runs in 17.4 overs after opting to field first at the Harare Sports Club. Raza picked up 3 wickets for 11 runs in four overs, and for his impactful performance, he won the POTM award. The POTM award by Raza on Saturday is his 17th POTM award in T20Is.

The veteran batter Virat Kohli played 125 T20Is for India from 2010 to 2024 and won 16 POTM awards, whereas his India teammate and current T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has also won 16 POTM awards in 83 T20Is played so far.
In the overall list of players with the most POTM awards in T20I format, Raza is now placed second, only behind Virandeep Singh of Malaysia. Virandeep has won 22 POTM awards in 102 T20Is played so far for Malaysia.

Apart from Raza, Brad Evans also picked up three wickets for Zimbabwe, whereas Blessing Muzarabani found two scalps as well. The total of 80 by Sri Lanka in the second T20I of the bilateral series is their second-lowest score in the 20-over format of the game.

For Sri Lanka, only Kamil Mishra (20), skipper Charith Asalanka (18) and Dasun Shanaka (15) managed to go past the double figures.
Zimbabwe chased down the target in 14.2 overs with Tashinga Musekiwa being their top run getter, having played an unbeaten knock of 21 runs in just 14 balls. He smashed three boundaries, whereas Ryan Burl remained unbeaten on 20.
"Very chuffed. We kept saying we are close to playing good cricket; it is nice to be on the other side of the result. There is a sigh of relief for everybody. We were a little upset with the losses; we were getting close, but not crossing the line. The beauty of today was that we were clinical. Hopefully the performances keep getting better and better," Zimbabwe captain Raza said in the post-match presentation.
