Aryna Sabalenka wins US Open 2025 title: World number one Aryna Sabalenka clinched the US Open 2025 women's singles title as she defeated Amanda Anisimova in straight sets in the final. This is the fourth Grand Slam title of her stellar career.
Sabalenka produced a dominant effort to register a 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) victory at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. She headed into the summit clash, knowing it was her last chance to grab a Grand Slam crown in 2025 after heartbreaking defeats in the Australian and French Open finals.
She avoided becoming the first woman to lose three major finals in a single season since Justine Henin in 2006.
She has become the first woman to win back-to-back U.S. Opens since Serena Williams claimed three straight from 2012 to 2014. "I want to thank everyone who came here, who flew in to be there in my box," said Sabalenka, who fell to her knees and got emotional after clinching victory with an unreturnable serve and embraced her coaches in the stands in a scene of utter joy.
"I'm going to reach a lot more finals, and I don't care where you are in the world, I want you in my box."
Notably, the 27-year-old Sabalenka was the runner-up to Madison Keys at the Australian Open in January and to Coco Gauff at the French Open. Then, at Wimbledon in July, Sabalenka was eliminated by Anisimova.
Playing in only her second major final, New Jersey-born Anisimova had the partisan fans at the iconic Stadium on her side, but she could never pick up the momentum.
"It's been a great summer, losing in two finals in a row is great but it's also super hard," said 24-year-old Anisimova, who was left in tears yet again after the heartbreak of her 6-0, 6-0 drubbing in the Wimbledon final two months ago.
"I didn't fight hard enough for my dreams today."
Sabalenka displayed a performance full of calmness and determination with just four unforced errors in the first set, converting all three break points she set up as she turned down the noise from the home crowd.
Sabalenka was up a break in the second set but could not close it out as she gave Anisimova a break point chance with a fluffed smash in the 10th game, and the American wasted no chance to convert it to remain alive in the contest. However, the Belarusian was too good in the tiebreak, wrapping up the match with an unreturnable serve.
