As India's hunt for a new head coach commences, BCCI have considered the former New Zealand captain and current Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming as a potential contender to take over from Rahul Dravid.

With Dravid reportedly unlikely to re-apply for the job after the end of his contract post-T20 World Cup next month, the Indian team is looking for a new head coach who will take charge in all three formats.

The BCCI on Monday officially called for fresh applications for the role of head coach post the T20 World Cup.

As per a report in the Indian Express, Fleming, who has been the head coach of CSK since 2009, has come out as a front-runner as Dravid's replacement.

The Indian team is all set to undergo a transition phase with Fleming's man management well equipped to bring the best out of players by creating a positive environment.

His success rate at CSK is a huge proof of his abilities but it isn't clear things whether the 51-year-old has communicated with the CSK management about his wish to leave the franchise.

The five-time IPL champions, meanwhile, would love to extend his stay.

Fleming has a promising amount of experience when it comes to coaching as he has coached Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash for four years.

He is also the head coach of Joburg Super Kings in SA20 and Texas Super Kings in Major League Cricket – both of which are sister franchises of CSK and head coach of Southern Brave in The Hundred.

Fleming is the longest-serving coach in the league and has guided CSK to five titles and two Champions League trophies.

While there is a huge admiration for Fleming for the all-important role considering his ability to extract the best out of players, it remains a doubt whether he will be keen to keep himself available and committed for 10 months a year.
