T20 World Cup 2024: Amidst all the speculations that went viral on social media, the Indian team management didn’t have any disciplinary issues with Shubhman Gill. The star batter and pacer Avesh Khan will be coming back to India after the group stage matches of the ongoing tournament in the USA and it is not because of any disciplinary issues as per India Today.
Rumors spread like wildfire on social media that the team management wasn’t satisfied with Shubhman Gill’s behavior in New York. Gill was part of the four reserve players who went to the US with the 15-member Indian team for the mega-event. Hence, the speculation that the team management is not happy with Gill isn’t true as per a source. Speculations were also rife that Gill had unfollowed Rohit Shama on his social media account and that his relations with the Indian skipper turned sour.
At the same time, the team management will decide if they need four travel reserves for the next stage or to release a few players.

Shubhman Gill and Avesh Khan will return to India after the group stage ends whereas Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed will assist the team to the West Indies for the Super 8 stage of the tournament as per PTI.
Shubman Gill wasn’t part of India’s 15-member squad due to his inconsistent performances in IPL 2024. He scored 426 runs after playing in 14 matches. Gill fell short as Yashasvi Jaiswal was chosen as the backup opener after the team management picked Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as the openers.
As per PTI, it is quite logical to release both Gill and Avesh as even if either Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma gets injured, they do have Yashasvi Jaiswal in the squad, who can replace them. They don’t need a fourth opener in the Super 8 stage. It should also be noted here that Gill didn’t get much time to bat in the training sessions in New York.
