T20 World Cup 2026: The standoff between the ICC (International Cricket Council) and PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) finally came to an end after the government of Pakistan decided to call off the boycott of the T20 World Cup 2026 match against India in Colombo. Notably, the officials of the PCB and ICC engaged in a long meeting at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday to end the deadlock between the two sides.
As soon as the Bangladesh Cricket Board issued a statement, urging PCB to play the match against India, it was almost a certainty that the boycott would not last long. Notably, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced their withdrawal from the match against India as a show of solidarity for the Bangladesh Cricket Team, which opted out of the T20 World Cup after the ICC denied their request to shift their matches out of India.
However, Pakistan government made a U-turn on its announcement on Monday, stating "In view of the outcomes achieved in multilateral discussions, as well as the request of friendly countries, the Government of Pakistan hereby directs the Pakistan National Cricket Team to take the field on February 15, 2026, for its scheduled fixture in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup," the Pakistan government stated in a press release.
As soon as the announcement went public, fans on social media (X) started bashing PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi for displaying a lack of credibility and undermining the position he holds. Check out the reactions:

How did it all started?
Bangladesh were replaced by Scotland in the 2026 T20 World Cup, after their request to have all their matches played outside India could not be agreed upon by the ICC, which they put in place after Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Mustafizur Rahman was removed from the squad following instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) amid concerns related to atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh.
